The Passfaces™
products implement "Cognometric Authentication".
Like passwords and PINs, The Passface™ system is a cognometric
method of personal authentication - based on something known
by the user and the system (a shared secret); however, instead
of characters and numbers, it uses photographs of human faces
as its “alphabet”.
 Passfaces™
can be used either to replace or to compliment passwords in
online user authentication systems:
Password Replacement -
Used in place of an (alpha-numeric) password,
Passfaces™ improve
the usability and reliability of system access and reducing
password management costs;
Password Enhancement -
Used as a second factor authenticator (in conjunction with
a password),
Passfaces™ provide
a clearly definable level of additional security and offers
a practical, immediately deployable alternative to smartcards,
tokens or biometrics - at an order-of-magnitude lower cost!
Passfaces™ can be
easily integrated into any system with a graphical user interface
(GUI) examples include: PCs; PDAs; ATMs; and Web/Interactive
TVs.
